We have the gift of the Spirit, but then we have the gifts of the Spirit. Christ enjoyed what he did. He was filled with God. He was overflowing with God. That same ministry that he walked in is available for us. Jesus! He wants us to walk in his anointing. He wants us to be contagious. He wants us to exercise that! How great is that? That which Christ had and exercised, he wants us to have it and spread it and share it and impart it. Not just to hold on to it.
We’ve been given what Jesus himself had and enjoyed and walked in. It is the indwelling Spirit of God that’s alive in us! We know what the gifts of the Spirit are. 1 Corinthians 12: 8-10, “To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.” God has given this to all of us, so we are all partakers of the gifts of God. That’s a great thing. But, a lot of people, a lot of Christians, a lot of people sitting in here, are not walking in those gifts or are not demonstrating those gifts, and they’re available to everyone of us.
So, my question to you is, ‘What are we doing with what’s been given to you?’ Are you laying hands on people? Are you sharing Christ with people? Are you telling them about the goodness of God? Do you have a word of prophecy in your mouth? God wants us to let go and let Him take over. Sometimes, knowing and doing are two different things. God doesn’t want us to hold back. He wants us to be in hot pursuit, 24/7, of all that he has for us. And, he has a lot for us! We lose out on a lot when we don’t fulfil and follow and do the things that he says to us. The things he speaks to us. If we just sit on it what is the point of him speaking to us, again? He’s waiting for us to get up off our behinds and go forward. No holding back! No quitting! Be in hot pursuit of all that God has for us!
Anything less than the complete surrender of our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ is really robbing our Father. Robbing God of the glory he demands and deserves. It’s also cheating ourselves out of the eternal rewards that God has reserved for us, if we walk in obedience and we walk in his plan. We need to be mindful of that!
